Global farm certification
EarthClaims · Invilogue
End-to-end product design for a global farm certification platform used across multiple countries.
Context
EarthClaims is a global farm-certification platform — the system farms, field auditors, and certification bodies use to prove that produce meets a given standard, across multiple countries. I lead end-to-end product design: the core workflows, the design system, UX audits, and mentoring designers across the org.
Certification is the opposite of a casual app. It is high-stakes, document-heavy, and multi-stakeholder: a farmer submitting evidence, an auditor inspecting in the field, a certification body signing off, and a buyer trusting the result. Every screen carries legal and commercial weight.
The core problem
Compliance that doesn'tfeel bureaucratic.
The hard part isn't drawing screens — it's that the same product has to serve people with opposite needs, under rules that change per country and per standard, without forking into ten different apps.
Role-based experiences
A farmer wants the shortest honest path to submit evidence. An auditor wants density, history, and an audit trail. The product flexes by role instead of compromising into a bland middle.
Progressive disclosure of compliance
Standards are deep. Most users only need the next required step — the full regulatory tree is there, but collapsed until it's relevant. Complexity on demand, not by default.
A multi-country design system
Standards vary by market; the interface cannot. One token + component system absorbs the variation so every country looks and behaves like one product.
Evidence capture as a first-class flow
Field auditors work on patchy connectivity with photos, documents, and geotags. Capture is designed for the field first, the desk second.
Outcome
The work is system-level, not screen-level: a design system that holds across countries, audited end-to-end flows, and a team of designers working to a shared standard. My role spans IC design, design ops, and mentoring — the certification platform now reads as one coherent product across markets.
Biggest takeaway: in compliance products, restraint is the feature. Every element you can defer, collapse, or role-gate is one less place for a high-stakes mistake.
